For Kallie’s graduation, Jordan and I took her to San Diego last week. We left Friday afternoon and drove to Las Vegas and spent the night. We woke up early and headed out ,only to be detoured at the outlet mall in Prima. We did not even know that this existed, but what a find. Needless to say our plans for early arrival in San Diego were thwarted by fun stuff and great prices. We left with the car a little fuller and a resolve to stop on our way back, IF there was any room in our car ( there was and we were able to fill every available square inch). I am not an outlet person and hate rummaging through things or fighting crowds, but these were so nice and the prices were great. They had a Chico’s and a Williams and Sonoma, my two favorite stores.
We then spent 4 nights in San Diego. We spent the first day at Sea World, Jordan’s life long dream. Kallie was a good sport and tolerated the day with a big smile. This is not her thing and we also did not take into consideration that this was Memorial Day weekend–lots of people. The shows were awesome and even Kallie enjoyed these.
The next day we headed over to Coronado. It was such a cute little town and a beautiful beach. We shopped in the morning, changed our clothes in the car, and spent the afternoon lying on the beach. Jordan and I braved the cold water and did a little body surfing. I guess you could call it that.
The next day was spent at the hotel pool sunbathing or should I say sun burning. That afternoon we went to the large mall in San Diego for a little more shopping and dinner at Cheesecake Factory. Love that place!!! Best meal so far.!!
The next day we rose early and headed to Las Vegas. We stopped at the outlet malls again and then checked into our hotel ( New York, New York) in Vegas about 8pm. We were beat so we took a nice hot bath, put on PJs, ordered room service and watched “So You Think You Can Dance”. Jordan thought we were real losers but it was my idea of a perfect night, vacation or not. And as they say, What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
It was great fun and we worked hard at getting Kallie to relax. She is still in the stress mode from school, but I am hoping that she will be able to stop and relax and look at what she has accomplished int he past eight years. It was nice just having the girls together and having no where we had to be or nothing that had to be done. I hope they enjoyed it as much as I did.
But with any trip, my favorite part is coming home, to my boys, both 2 legged and 4 legged. To take a quote from Dorothy, There is just no place like HOME!!!!
Any of you that know Kallie, know that she just cannot pack light for a trip. She came with a huge suitcase, 1 large duffle bag, 2 smaller bags, a drawstring bag of shoes, a blanket, a pillow and a large purse. Just think of the shopping we could have done if she had packed lighter. She probably saved us a considerable amount of money.
