I love bacon in any shape or form. I love it for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love it alone or piled high with tomatoes out of my garden on a BLT, I loved it wrapped around water chestnuts and cooked in BBQ sauce. I love it in salads, especially spinach. If you could not tell, I love bacon. I am not going to look up how many points it is in Weight Watchers. I refuse. If I do not know, I do not need to write it down in the pesky little tracker. Kind of like thinking I don’t need to write down things I eat at night. Well I found a way to make bacon even better. Put brown sugar on it. Don’t get me started on how much I love brown sugar. There is not time. So of course I would abs0lutely love this combination.
SUGARED BACON
This is not so much a recipe as just instructions. Take some slices of bacon. I love the thick slices for this but any kind of good bacon will work. Do not and I repeat do not use the microwave precooked bacon. It is not really bacon but an imposter and will not work for this recipe. Lie the pieces out on a cooling rack placed inside a cookie sheet. I line my cookie sheet with tin foil to make for easy cleanup. Sprinkle the pieces of bacon liberally with brown sugar. Place in a hot oven (400) and cook until bacon is done to your desired liking. This will vary depending on your oven and how crisp you like you bacon. It usually takes me about 20 minutes Enjoy
Jace was home sick today and Dave was up with his mom and dad at bear lake so we made sugared bacon, omelets to order, blueberry muffins, frozen fruit cocktail and cut up fruit for Sunday dinner. It tasted so good. I am sure it will cure what ails him.
There is a new sundae at Burger King called the Bacon Sundae. It is vanilla ice cream with hot fudge and bacon sprinkled over it. This would be good for that. I love sweet and salty but have not quite got the courage to try this yet. It seems a little indulgent even for my tastes.
